What this service is
Rapid City Window Pros is a free matching service, not a window company. You describe your windows once, through the form or by phone, and independent window installation companies that work in your area can contact you to measure and quote.
The site also publishes plain guides on the questions that come up most here: what hail does to windows and how to avoid storm chasers, what replacement costs, why South Dakota has no state window-contractor license, when lead-safe rules apply, and why the window tax credit is gone.
What it isn't
- We don't sell, measure, order or install windows.
- We don't set prices, schedules or warranty terms. Each installer does.
- We don't verify contractor licenses, insurance or lead-safe certification. You should ask for those yourself.
- We don't handle, negotiate or adjust insurance claims, and we can't predict what an insurer will pay.
- We don't charge homeowners, and you're never obligated to hire anyone.
How installers take part
The companies that reply are independent businesses. They may pay to receive quote requests through this site; that is how the service stays free for homeowners. Payment doesn't buy a recommendation, a ranking or a review from us, and we don't publish any.
Once an installer contacts you, the conversation, the quote, the contract and the work are between you and that company. Compare written quotes, check the details below, and choose whoever you trust, or no one.
What to check with any installer
South Dakota has no state window-contractor license. Ask each company for:
- Its SD contractor's excise tax license number, which you can verify at 1-800-829-9188.
- Proof of insurance.
- EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm status if your home was built before 1978.
- A City of Rapid City (or City of Spearfish) contractor license where the city requires one.
- A written contract. If you sign at home, you can cancel until midnight of the third business day.
